Monday 8:00AM

So yesterday after breakfast, we did something we never planned on doing on vacation...we went to CHURCH. It was a local Methodist Church at one of the surrounding towns, and we decided to go take in the culture, and we also heard the choir was magnificent. The people were very frieendly to us, and during the service, a church speaker came to us (4 guests in total from the resort) and thanked us for coming to experience their culture and also to bless our travels and that we have a safe journey home. The choir did live up to their reputation, they were simply wonderful singing acapella. Although the service was in Fijian, it was still nice to experience part of their culture/religion.

Later, we found the rec center, where they have to bowling lanes, virtual golf, ping pong, air hockey, darts, pool table, and many other activities. It was pretty cool, very nice, and they brought us drinks while we hung out there. We did not stay too long, as we have all these activities back home. We told one of the staff how much we love hammocks, and he said to just let the front desk know, and they will bring one to our bure. So, we went back to the bure, and called the front desk on the walkie and asked for lunch at our bure, and for a hammock.

So, one of the staff came by with the lunch menu, and we ordered our lunch...and by the way, the food here is great, we have some pictures of several of the dishes...think we will do a post simply of FOOD later on. Anyway, we ordered our food, and then went for a swim at our pool. About ten minutes later, some maintenance men showed up w/ a hammock and asked where we wanted it. We told them wherever they normally put it when requested. They informed us that this was the first time they had ever brought a hammock to a personal bure, and they would install it anywhere we wanted. We felt kinda bad as we thought they already had a place to put it, so we said whereever is easiest. They picked the perfect place for it (asking if we were ok with it of course) and hung the hammock just by the edge of the pool. We definitely enjoyed some time in the hammock, then our food showed up. We had lunch on our observation deck of our bure, and it was beautiful. Again, the food was great, and the view was breathtaking.

Later on, we decided to go on a "reef walk". It was along the edge of the island, and we are guessing it is the dead reef/rocks. The tide was going out so it was perfect timing, and we were joined by another couple who has their wedding today (Monday). The reef was cool, there were little pockets of water after the tide went out, and we saw some cool fish, sea irchents, hermet crabs, regular crabs, tons of star fish, and a blow hole. Eric and Jessica (the couple getting married) took a video of the blow hole. So, once we get that, we will post it for all to see!
Anyway, gotta run, Jenny is hungry so we are going to eat breakfast.
Just wanted to thank everyone for commenting on our blog, it means a lot to us, and helps us keep connected to our family and friends we love...
